OhGrocer ("we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect when you use our app, how we use it, and what choices you have.
By using OhGrocer, you agree to the practices described here. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.
When you sign in with your Google account, we receive:
We store this information securely on our servers so you can access your data across devices.
You can enter information about your groceries, such as:
This data is stored on our servers and linked to your account. Photos you take are uploaded to our secure cloud storage.
When you scan a barcode, the barcode number is sent to Open Food Facts (a public food database) to look up product details. The barcode number doesn't identify you personally.
If you scan a receipt:
If you use the recipe suggestion feature, your available grocery items (ingredient names and quantities only) are sent to a third-party AI service to generate recipe ideas. We do not send your name, email, or any personal information to these AI models — only your grocery list.
With your permission, we access your device's contacts list solely for these purposes:

You can revoke contact access at any time through your device settings. The app will continue to work — you'll just need to enter email addresses manually for invitations or recipe sharing.
If you use shared pantries, you can invite others to view or edit your grocery list. This means:
We collect anonymous information about how you use the app — like which screens you visit and which features you use. This helps us improve the app. We also collect crash reports (device type, app version, and what went wrong) so we can fix bugs.
This data doesn't include your name, email, or any personal information.
We show ads through Google AdMob. AdMob may collect:

We use your information only for these purposes:
We will never sell your personal data. We don't use your grocery data to target ads.
OhGrocer works with a few trusted services to provide specific features:
Each of these services has its own privacy policy, which we encourage you to review.
Important: When we use AI services, we only send the information needed for that specific feature (like ingredient names or receipt text). We never send your personal identity details to AI models.
Where: Your data is stored on secure cloud servers. Photos you upload are stored in secure cloud storage. Some data (like your preferences and cached images) is stored locally on your device.
How long: We keep your data for as long as your account is active. When you delete items, we remove them from our servers. If you'd like us to delete your entire account, just contact us.
Analytics and crash data is kept for a limited time (typically up to 14 months for analytics, 90 days for crash reports), as per industry standards.
We do not sell your information. We share it only in these situations:
You can view, edit, or delete your grocery items at any time from within the app. You can edit your profile information too.
Email support@ohgrocer.com to request account deletion. We'll remove your profile, items, and photos from our servers.
You can opt out of anonymous analytics and crash reporting through your device settings (Android: Settings → Google → Ads → Opt out of Ads Personalization) or by contacting us.
You can turn off camera and microphone permissions in your device settings at any time. The app will still work — you just won't be able to scan barcodes/receipts or use voice input.
You can turn expiry reminders on or off from within the app's settings, or through your device's notification settings.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights, including:
To exercise any of these rights, email support@ohgrocer.com. We'll respond within the timeframe required by law.
We take reasonable steps to protect your data:
No system is 100% secure, but we work hard to keep your information safe.
OhGrocer is not intended for children under 13. We don't knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has given us their data, please contact us and we'll delete it.
If we update this policy, we'll change the "Last updated" date above. If the changes are significant, we'll let you know through the app or by email. Your continued use of the app after changes means you accept the updated policy.
